Camp Valcrest is located only 45 miles from Los Angeles on State Hwy. 2 in the Angeles National Forest, at an elevation of 5,900 feet. Camp Valcrest is owned and operated by the Los Angeles Dept. of Recreation and Parks, under permit from the National Forest Service. Surrounded by tall pines, Camp Valcrest can accommodate 60 campers in three dormitory-style cabins. Available year-round for groups, Camp Valcrest is an ideal location for week-long summer camp, and weekend retreats throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons. Camp Valcrest is also available for day use (Monday - Friday). The rustic facility features a well-equipped kitchen and dining hall. All groups handle their own program and provide their own staff. Bedding is not supplied. Swimming pool with lifeguard service is usually available during summer sessions only.

Attractions include nearby ski areas in the winter as well as fishing and hiking spots in the summer. The camp caretaker resides at camp.

The camp is currently CLOSED for renovation.

How To Register

Reservations for Camp Valcrest are first-come, first served basis by calling the Camping office at (213) 485-4853. City of L.A. residents may make reservations eight months in advance. (with proof of residency); all others may make reservations up to six months in advance.
