Public Information: Picnic reservations must be made in person. Moonbounce permits are only given for picnic areas #3 and #4. Call (310) 398-5982 for information. Reservations can be made up to three months in advance but at least 14 days prior to the event.

General Information: Mar Vista Recreation Center is located at the intersection of Palms and Sawtelle. Our special features include: Roller Hockey Rink, Seasonal Swimming Pool, Baseball Diamonds, Auditorium, Picnic Areas, Playground, outdoor basketball courts (lighted) and Gymnasium (without weights). Moon bounce permits will be issued for picnic areas #3 and #4.  The recreation building (including restrooms) will be open during facility hours only, and will be locked at all other times. NO grills or other extra equipment not pre-approved by the recreation center. Our staff, instructors, and volunteers offer a variety of programs and activities for the community. Preschool Fun, art classes, seasonal camp programs, sports classes/programs, and dance and fitness activities are all available.

Preschool Information: Sign up for our PreSchool Fun class with Teacher Judy! Teacher Judy has been providing quality learning and nurturing for over 15 years at Mar Vista!  Your child will experience an enrichment based program that offers supervised play, social, cognitive and emotional interaction, organized activities, special events, and much, much more. Your child will participate in circle time, music, story time, games, play and table-top activities such as crafts, cooking and science. 

Children must be toilet trained.  Parent participation is required.  For more information about this program, please call our office at 310.398.5982

Sports Information: We offer youth sports leagues for children 4-15 years of age, providing your child meets the age requirements. (Please see brochure for more specific information.) Co-Ed and Girls Soccer, Flag- Football, Youth Roller Hockey and Girls Basketball is offered in the fall (registration in June), Co-Ed and Girls Basketball, Youth Roller Hockey is offered in the winter (registration in October), and Co-Ed and Girls Soccer, Youth Roller Hockey and T-Ball, 5-Pitch, Minors and Major baseball is offered in the spring (registration in February).

Seasonal Camp Information: Mar Vista Recreation Center offers seasonal  camp programs for children ages 3-5 years (summer camp only) and for children entering grades K-10th. Camps are offered in the summer, winter, and spring based on the LAUSD school holiday breaks.

The Park Advisory Board: The Mar Vista Park Advisory Board meets one evening bi-monthly. We are in partnership with the LA Parks Foundation that is able to offer wonderful sponsorship opportunities for businesses and great fundraising events to help enhance Mar Vista Recreation Center. Class Registration Information: Our current class information is available online (see above). Please call (310)398-5982 for more information. Most classes run 7-10 weeks, unless otherwise stated. Students must meet class age requirements by the date of enrollment. Staff reserves the right to require proof of age at any time. Only Visa and MasterCard credit cards can be used to register online. Walk-In registration begins the Wednesday prior to the start of the session. Payment in full by credit card, check, or money order must be made in person at the time of Walk-In Registration. Cash is not accepted. Checks are to be made payable to “L.A. City Department of Recreation and Parks”. Class fees will NOT be prorated. See below for our refund policy.

Please consult with your physician before enrolling in any physically demanding class. Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in our programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements. Please notify the instructor prior to the start of class if you or your child has special needs.


  • A 15% fee will be assessed by the recreation center for any patron granted a refund, change, or transfer per class or sports league registration. After the first day of a session the recreation center issues a partial refund to patrons withdrawing from an activity.
  • No full refunds will be issued unless a class or sports league is cancelled by the center.
  • Credit or make-ups will not be given for classes missed by patrons
  • There will be no prorating for classes.
  • We reserve the right to cancel/combine classes if the minimum enrollment is not met.
