Public Information: Aidan's Place (located in Westwood Park) opened on December 5, 2001 in memory of Aidan James who was wheelchair bound. It is the second West Coast Boundless Playground created by L.A. Recreation and Parks in conjunction with the Boundless Playground Resource Center West. Visit AIDAN'S PLACE for more details.

Facility Features: Turf Soccer Field (lighted), Baseball Diamond (lighted), Basketball Courts (lighted/outdoor and indoor), Children's Play Area, Community Rooms, Barbecue Pits and Picnic Tables.

General Information: Westwood Recreation Center is located one block south/east of the intersection of Wilshire and Sepulveda. Our special features include: Aidan's Place Playground, Outdoor Turf soccer field, Indoor Racquetball Courts, Outdoor Basketball Courts, Two (2) Gymnasiums with Indoor Basketball Court and stage, Indoor Aquatics Facility, Tennis Court Concessions and Bad News Bears Ball Diamonds. Moon bounce permits will be issued for specific areas. The recreation building (including restrooms) will be open during facility hours only, and will be locked at all other times. NO grills or other extra equipment not pre-approved by the recreation center. Our staff, instructors, and volunteers offer a variety of programs and activities for the community. Parent & Me Program, Ballet and Piano classes, Adult Fitness and Ceramic classes, seasonal camp programs and sports classes/programs are all available.

Adult Ceramic Classes and Programming: Sign up for our Ceramic and Fitness Classes for adults! We have has been providing quality learning and creativity for over 15 years at Westwood!

Picnic Permits: There are designated picnic permits available. Moonbounces are not allowed at Westwood Recreation Center. The recreation building (including restrooms) will be open during facility hours only, and will be locked at all other times. NO grills or other extra equipment not pre-approved by the recreation center.

Sports Information: We offer youth sports leagues for children 4-15 years of age, providing your child meets the age requirements. (Please see brochure for more specific information.) Co-Ed and Girls Basketball, Adult Basketball, is offered in the Fall (registration in August). Co-Ed and Girls Basketball and Adult Basketball is offered in the winter (registration in November). Co-Ed Baseball, Girls Softball, Co-Ed and Girls Basketball, Adult Basketball, is offered in the spring (registration in February). Co-Ed and Girls Basketball and Adult Basketball is offered in the summer (registration beings in May).

Seasonal Camp Information: Westwood Recreation Center offers seasonal camp programs for children ages 3-5 years (summer camp only) and for children entering grades K-9th. Camps are offered in the summer, winter, and spring based on the LAUSD school holiday breaks.

The Park Advisory Board: The Westwood Park Advisory Board is looking for new membership! Please contact Lizka Mendoza, Facility Director at (310-473-3610 if you are interested in becoming a member. We are in partnership with the LA Parks Foundation that is able to offer wonderful sponsorship opportunities for businesses and great fundraising events to help enhance Westwood Recreation Center. Class Registration Information: Our current class information is available online (see above). Please call (310)473-3610 for more information. Most classes run 7-10 weeks, unless otherwise stated. Students must meet class age requirements by the date of enrollment. Staff reserves the right to require proof of age at any time. Only Visa and MasterCard credit cards can be used to register online. Walk-In registration begins the Wednesday prior to the start of the session. Payment in full by credit card, check, or money order must be made in person at the time of Walk-In Registration. Cash is not accepted. Checks are to be made payable to "L.A. City Department of Recreation and Parks". Class fees will NOT be prorated. See below for our refund policy. Please consult with your physician before enrolling in any physically demanding class. Persons with disabilities are welcome to participate in our programs. Reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements. Please notify the instructor prior to the start of class if you or your child has special needs.

ACTIVITY REFUND POLICY:

  • A 15% fee will be assessed by the recreation center for any patron granted a refund, change, or transfer per class or sports league registration. After the first day of a session the recreation center issues a partial refund to patrons withdrawing from an activity.
  • No full refunds will be issued unless a class or sports league is cancelled by the center.
  • Credit or make-ups will not be given for classes missed by patrons
  • There will be no prorating for classes.
We reserve the right to cancel/combine classes if the minimum enrollment is not met.
