Q: What kind of activities can I do in Griffith Park?

Griffith Park has 4,218 acres of natural area and is the largest municipally-owned and operated park in the world. This facility offers 28 tennis courts, numerous picnic and sports areas and 53 miles hiking and equestrian trails. In addition, the park contains the Griffith Observatory, Greek Theatre, Travel Town, Los Angeles Zoo, Gene Autry Museum, Pony and Train rides, and three golf courses including a driving range.

Q: Where can I find out about special events in Griffith Park?

The Communications Center provides general park information, trail maps, and information regarding upcoming special events. You may contact the Communications Center at (323) 644-2050.

Q: What time do the parks close?
A: 
Los Angeles parks are generally open for public use from 5:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., although some parks close at sunset.

Q: Is Griffith Park the only city park with activities?
A: 
The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks has approximately four hundred parks and recreation facilities. Each facility is unique and has many activities to offer that vary depending on its location. Please contact the recreation director of the facility you are interested in for further information on activities offered.
