ANOTHER SCIENCE FICTION: ADVERTISING THE SPACE RACE, 1957-1962
On June 2, the Observatory hosted author Megan Prelinger for a lecture and booksigning regarding her book Another Science Fiction in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater.

On Monday, March 1, 2010, the TLC cable network aired an episode of their popular Ultimate Cake Off series which featured a competition between three teams to design a spectacular cake to commemorate the Observatory's 75th

OBSERVATORY HOSTS DR. DON LINCOLN DISCUSSING LARGE HADRON COLLIDER
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, Griffith Observatory was pleased to welcome Dr. Don Lincoln, Senior Physicist with Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, for two public lectures and a book-signing regarding the Large Hadron Collider. For more information about the event, please click here.

OBSERVATORY HOSTS CASSINI SCIENCE TEAM FOR PUBLIC PANEL DISCUSSION
On October 21, 2009, Griffith Observatory welcomed the leaders of the Cassini mission to Saturn for a public panel discussion. An overflow audience in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon theater heard mission leaders talk about some of the most interesting things they had learned from the mission to date. OBSERVATORY HOSTS "BUZZ ALDRIN DAY IN LOS ANGELES" WITH LEGENDARY ASTRONAUT
On August 27, 2009, Griffith Observatory saluted Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin for his historic accomplishments, and he signed copies of his most recent book, Magnificent Desolation. For more information about the event, please click here.

ONE SMALL STEP: THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF APOLLO 11
The Observatory celebrated the first step by people onto another world with four days (July 18-21, 2009) of special lectures and activities.

NEW VIDEOCAST EXPLAINS THE BIG PICTURE
Noted science writer Carolyn Collins Petersen (who also wrote all the Observatory's exhibit copy) has started a monthly video series on Astrocast.tv that examines interesting topics in astronomy.
