As Amazon’s Head of External Affairs and Community Engagement for Southern California and for the company’s global media and entertainment businesses, Marie drives positive change through partnerships that span the public, private, philanthropic and non-profit sectors.

Prior to Amazon, Marie was an independent political and communications consultant who advised high profile individuals and campaigns, including the successful effort to pass Measure J, a first of its kind initiative that directs upwards of $1 billion a year to address racial injustice in Los Angeles County.

Previously, as Vice President of Gonring|Lin|Spahn, Marie created communications, government relations, public policy and social impact strategies for Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations and leaders in entertainment, tech and global development.

Marie’s outcomes-oriented approach stems from her time as a campaign staffer and then Communications Deputy to the Mayor of Los Angeles, where she led entertainment, environmental and infrastructure initiatives while responding to non-stop breaking news as a spokesperson.

Marie earned her BA with concentrations in Urban Planning, Anthropology and Industrial Economies from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. She also earned a post-baccalaureate certificate from the University of California (Berkeley) College of Environmental Design.  Marie lives in Los Angeles with her family.
