Council District: 4 Griffith Park

Project Address: The project site is located at 4730 Crystal Springs Drive, and is entirely within Griffith Park in the City of Los Angeles, approximately 15 miles northwest of downtown. Griffith Park lies just west of Interstate-5, roughly between Los Feliz Boulevard on the south and State Route -134 on the north. The project site is situated in the “Old Zoo” area of Griffith Park in proximity to other active use areas, including Shane’s Inspiration Playground (1,000 feet to the east); the Merry-Go-Round (1,000 feet to the southeast); the Ranger Station/Visitors Center (2,300 feet to the southeast); and the southern part of the Wilson/Harding Golf Course.

Project Description: The proposed project includes the development of an open air outdoor stage measuring 45 feet by 45 feet on a landscaped grassy part of Griffith Park known as the Old Zoo area that currently hosts several regular annual events. The proposed project includes other ancillary improvements such as a new switchboard, resurfaced parking lot, improvements to existing restrooms, path lighting, resurfaced walkways, a new path and bridge meeting Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements, and undergrounding of an existing overhead power line.

Review Locations: The public review and comments period for proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration will be from December 19, 2013 to January 22, 2014. Copies of the document are available at the following locations:
