MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the board shall be to promote and establish the highest standards in youth sports programming, to recommend, determine, implement, and interpret rules, regulations, and policies governing Regional and Citywide Youth Athletic Programs of the Department of Recreation and Parks of the City of Los Angeles.
OBJECTIVES OF THE CITYWIDE YOUTH SPORTS BOARD
| A. | To ensure equal opportunity for all youth, by emphasizing the Department's gender equity policy. |
| B. | To standardize rules. |
| C. | To stimulate program development in the realm of athletics. |
| D. | To encourage and coordinate athletic endeavors with other youth serving agencies. |
| E. | To develop the highest ideals of good sportsmanship in the participating athletes and volunteers. |
| F. | To serve as a sports advisory source and protest board for the recreation personnel of the Department of Recreation and Parks. |
| G. | To reflect gender equity in membership and appointments. |

CITYWIDE YOUTH SPORTS BOARD
SPORTSMANSHIP STATEMENT
Good sportsmanship among spectators, parents, coaches, players, and officials is expected.
We require that ALL spectators practice supportive and encouraging behavior at all times.
Inappropriate conduct and/or negative gestures are not allowed during any part of the game.
Examples of such behavior include the following:
- Taunting the opposing team and their supporters.
- Derogatory comments to the officials/referees and others
- Distracting players with stomping, yelling, and/or banging devices.
- Usage of loud sounds such as horns/whistles/bells are prohibited.
Failure to comply with the above rules may officially end the game and result in a forfeit loss for the offending team(s).
